One of the Smallest Mobile Phone: LG Migo Verizon VX1000

Comes with twin stubby antennas in green hue color, the VX1000 LG Migo  is one of the smallest mobile phone in the market. The color is so “catch the eye”, nicely offset by keypad and the black face. With 3.23 x 1.81 x 0.87 inches dimensions and 2.46 ounces weight, this smallest mobile phone can slips easily into a pocket and perfect for kid-size hands. The LG Migo has a solid feel in the hand, and quite strong as well. It can survive a few drops to the carpet or hard surfaces.

Of course the smallest mobile phone has a smaller display than averages. The Migo’s rectangular, monochrome display measures 1 inch diagonal with 96×32 pixels resolution. It displays the caller ID, battery life, signal strength, and time. The clock is automatically set by the network. You can’t alter the brightness or the backlight time, but the display is easy to see in most lighting environments.

The power and Talk buttons sit below the display. You also will find four number keypad for dialing the four pre-installed phone numbers supported by the phone. As well as the Talk and End controls, the buttons are large and quite tactile. In the middle of it sits a jumbo key for dialing an emergency number, like 911. Finally, there are also a side-mounted volume control and a headset jack. The smallest mobile phone also provides a great touch of speakerphone that can be activated before you make a call by holding down the 1 button for 3 seconds.

As a kid phone, the VX1000 limits its control and we need the heavy adaption to perform menu navigation. Displaying main menu is via pressing the Talk key and confirms it by pressing the Talk/yes key again. The Migo puts four function choices into their main menu. The function menu is simple and easy to remember. First function sets the default ring tone, second function sets the caller ID ring tone, third function edits the four-number phone book, and fourth function sets the emergency-dial number. The small display can only display two lines, so you need to use the volume rocker to scroll down to the third and fourth function. To select the corresponding menu choice, you can press the numbered key, meanwhile pressing the End/No button will get you back to the menu option.

Store and edit the Migo’s phone book need more challenging effort. Depending on how many times you press the key, each of the numbered buttons corresponds to a different group of numbers and letters. For example, if you press the 1 key once, it enters 1, and it enters 2 when you press it twice, and so on. To enter letters, you need more efforts. For example, if you want to type e, you have to press the 1 key five times. As a kid smallest mobile phone, the idea is you won’t need to put too many numbers in its phone book and you won’t edit them too often.
